Dental Treatment and COVID-19

Dear Patients,

On 25th March 2020 Sara Hurley (Chief Dental Officer England) and Matt Neligan (Director of Primary Care and System transformation) released their latest statement on the rapidly developing COVID-19 pandemic.

We would like to update you on how this will affect our service provision at Dentalcare Group. The guidance is clear that all routine, non-urgent dental care, including orthodontic treatments must be deferred until advised otherwise. We are still here to support you and your dental needs through this unprecedented time.

We want to take this opportunity to reassure all our patients that we take the spread of the COVID-19 in the UK very seriously. The health and safety of our patients, staff and visitors to our dental practice is our main priority.

Here at Dentalcare Group we will be providing all our patients with a remote service during normal working hours. Our dentists will perform telephone triaging for: advice; analgesia; and antimicrobials (if appropriate) . We will not be able to see you at the practice.

If it is not possible to manage your symptoms remotely, you will have to be referred to a Local Urgent Dental Care Centre. Details of these are currently being established in our area and we will update you as soon as we have further information.

We will use our best professional judgement in the triaging process and work collaboratively with our Local Urgent Care system, possibly volunteering our expertise where necessary to help meet the demands imposed on this new emergency service.

Cosmetic dental treatments at Dentalcare Hook

Here are just some of the cosmetic dental treatments that we offer, do make an appointment to discuss your concerns with your dentist and they can talk to you about these and other treatments in more detail.

Teeth whitening

One of the most frequent complaints that we get from patients is about the colour of their teeth. Teeth naturally become stained over time, but we offer several treatments which can brighten and lighten the colour of your teeth to give you a sparkling smile. Treatment time is quick and painless, and this is an easy way to update your smile.

Dental veneers

Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain which are custom-made to stick to the front of your tooth. They are a great way to cover up chipped or uneven teeth. They can be used to disguise discoloured teeth or gaps between the teeth and they can help to lengthen teeth too. Dental veneers are popular because treatment time is quick and painless plus the results are instant.

Composite bonding

Dental bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin which is applied to your tooth to help change the shape and colour. It’s often used to make teeth appear more consistent as well as lengthening teeth and closing up gaps. This treatment is suitable for most patients of all ages, it’s less expensive than other treatments and can be reversed or modified if you find that you want to change the appearance of your teeth later on.

White fillings

If you have a cavity, fillings are used to repair the tooth as well as give it protection. It can also help to protect the health of the adjacent teeth too. White fillings are made from composite material which is matched to completely blend in with the colour of the rest of your teeth giving you a healthy, natural looking smile.

What Cosmetic Dentistry can do for you

There are many benefits to having cosmetic dental treatments. Cosmetic dentistry can:

  • Update your smile. Whether you want a slight tweak to the appearance of your teeth or a complete transformation, there are treatments to help
  • Have quick treatment times. Most forms of cosmetic dentistry treatments can be completed in just one appointment. The exception to this would be for orthodontic treatments
  • Be minimally invasive with no injections or drills needed. Dental implants have a more complex procedure, but even these treatments can be completed in a few appointments using just a local anaesthetic.
  • Boost your confidence by giving you a smile that you can be proud of

If you’re not sure which cosmetic dental treatment would work best, book a consultation for a discussion with your dentist. At Dentalcare Hook, our staff are highly experienced and knowledgeable about all of our treatments and they can offer you the best advice about which treatment or which combination of treatments will best suit your budget and give you the best result.
